Sustainable Fashion Week takes place for the third time

Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) will be held for the third time this year, spanning more than a week, from 25 September to 8 October 2023. With Bristol as its centre, there will also be two-day hubs in Plymouth, Manchester, Bradford, London , Cardiff, Frome and Brighton type, as well as international centers in Brooklyn and Atlantic City, USA; Bangalore, India and Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The title of this year’s issue is “The ReWear Revolution” and focuses on favorite items, second-hand, swapped and reworked items. Organizations such as the National Trust, BBC Studios, Salisbury Museum and The Fashion Museum are involved.

Activities such as sewing, mending, cutting and clothing exchange workshops, markets, discussions and film screenings such as “Fashion Reimagined” and “Nettle Dress” are planned.

“We’re back, bringing communities together to find positive ways to experience and interact with fashion. This year’s edition is packed with inspiration and suggestions for changing outdated fashion habits. Together we must help protect our changing climate and proactively create the kind of fashion industry that future generations deserve,” comments Amelia Twine, Founder of Sustainable Fashion Week, in a press release.

“For SFW, a sustainable fashion system is one of low impact, based on a culture of sharing and driven by collective action. We hope to see new models of fashion emerge where we swap, share, repair and reuse to keep garments from going to landfill and keeping them in circulation,” adds Twine.
