The IFA, the world’s largest trade fair for consumer electronics and household appliances, is celebrating its 99th anniversary. All 26 exhibition halls under the radio tower are fully booked. BZ is already showing what Berliners will be able to see there from September 1st.
2059 exhibitors from 48 countries present their latest product developments. The big topics: artificial intelligence (AI), robots, sustainability and connected living. Elon Musk’s Space X and Tesla will also be exhibiting for the first time. The IFA is reaching for the stars!
IFA expects 180,000 visitors
►World premiere at the IFA: The Gulp accessory (from the start-up company Matter) for washing machines. It is said to filter out 90 percent of the 700,000 microplastic particles per wash from the wastewater. Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio (48) and Ashton Kutcher (45) are among the prominent supporters of fundraising.
►180,000 visitors from 147 countries are expected. You can discover a lot of innovations: from the wireless TV to the solar table. In addition to large companies such as Beko Grundig, Bosch, Siemens, Hisense, Miele, Panasonic and Samsung, there are also 350 start-ups.
►Important for the trends this year: the so-called “all about me factor”. Personal hygiene products and smartphones. One thing is clear: prices are rising. Brands are becoming increasingly important, as is sustainability.
►This year there will be a so-called Sustainable Village in the summer garden instead of concerts: a sustainability village. With a special service: On Saturday (September 2nd) visitors can have their defective small electronic devices (except mobile phones) repaired on site free of charge. On Monday (September 4th) visitors can compete against the soccer team from 1. FC Union (1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.) in a goal wall shoot-out.
The IFA takes place from September 1st to 5th, daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Messedamm 22, Charlottenburg. tickets can only be bought online, cost 22.91 euros in advance (until August 31) for all 5 days.
