The worst brawl of the World Cup – Unreal behavior from the referees

Budapest World Championships Jury Council activities hurdler Karsten Warholm Analyzing the semifinal run was downright unreal.

Based on the TV pictures that spread around the world, Warholm broke the rules, but the jury did not even take the case into consideration.

Italy made a protest about the performance of the Norwegian 400-meter hurdler, but it was not taken into consideration after the deadline for protests expired.

– It’s a sad situation. Whenever a doubt arises, the Council of Judges has to cut the wings of rumors on its own initiative. The judges must use all the film material, and not just what was in the TV pictures, says Iltalehti’s athletics expert Arto Bryggare.

Head of Seiko’s measurement and timekeeping group responsible for technology at the World Championships Phil James presented footage used by judges in Eugene last season. James mentioned that the judges see the athletes’ performances from many more image sources than the TV viewers.

That is why it seems strange that the Budapest Council of Judges did not deal with Warholm’s situation.

Bryggare already wondered on Monday whether the judges have the ability to treat the superstar of the Games objectively.

There is no evidence of deliberate negligence by the judges, but rumors are raised by the Warholm case.

– It’s about credibility. If doubts arise, the judges must remove them immediately, Bryggare points out.

This is what it’s all about

Should Norway’s Karsten Warholm have been disqualified in the 400m hurdles semi-final? PDO

What was Warholm’s flash about in terms of running technique?

– A fast track and a strong feeling. He drifted close to the fence, when the front leg was so close to the fence that he had to jolt over from the side, the expert answers.

Warholm’s front leg is left. For example, the USA Ray Benjamin kicks off with the left foot, so that the right foot is in front at the fence.

– Benjamin has to run on the outside of the track when going over the fence. He loses a little at every fence crossing, for example, to Warholm. Karsten’s risk is that when you drive close to the fence, it rattles if you don’t put your foot anywhere other than the fence.

The essential question: should Warholm have been rejected?

– Based on the video clip I saw from one angle, he shouldn’t run in the final, but I haven’t seen all the angles, Bryggare answers.

– The problem is the work of the Council of Judges. It should automatically and independently handle such cases, expert times.

Why does Warholm prefer to run on track number seven? Why is the 400-meter hurdles perhaps the toughest athletics sport at the moment? Where did the ME woman of the sport disappear to? Sydney McLaughlin?
