At the latest when Benjamin Pavard, who is willing to emigrate, should actually leave FC Bayern for Inter Milan, there will be a big gap in the right-back position in Munich. Speculations about possible successor candidates for the French have recently increased. Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen has also been traded.

Weeks ago, the first reports popped up that FC Bayern would seriously consider the Werkself right-back. It would be a kind of castling between the two clubs, as young defender Josip Stanisic was recently loaned out to Leverkusen by FC Bayern for a year.

Jeremie Frimpong is also a full-back who can play on either side. The 22-year-old has been under contract at Leverkusen since January 2021 and has become an absolute regular at Bayer in just a few months. In the past season, he was on the pitch in all 34 Bundesliga games for the Rhinelanders, scoring a strong eight goals.

FC Bayern not too keen on Frimpong?

The Dutchman also got off to an excellent start in the new 2023/2024 season, scoring both in the cup game against amateur club FC Teutonia (8-0) and in last Saturday’s 3-2 opening win in the Bundesliga against RB Leipzig.

Contrary to reports to the contrary, the track of the Bayer star to the German champions in Munich should not be too hot at the moment. At least that’s what “Sky” reported on Monday.

As the TV station said, Frimpong shouldn’t really fit Bayern’s requirements profile. The German branch Croesus is therefore looking for a type of player who comes close to Benjamin Pavard – i.e. with a lot of quality in the defensive game.

Frimpong meanwhile, like Raphael Guerreiro, who signed in the summer, is more of an offensively oriented full-back.
