A driver without a driver’s license has been in a dangerous chase through Kreuzberg with the police in Berlin, injuring several officers.

A patrol wanted to check him on Friday afternoon at the intersection of Columbiadamm and Golßener Strasse because the 29-year-old was not wearing a seat belt. Instead of stopping, the man accelerated, the police said on Saturday.

During a chase, the 29-year-old then ignored several red traffic lights and sometimes switched to the oncoming lane. The police officers were finally able to stop the car on Görlitzer Strasse – when the passenger wanted to get out, the 29-year-old slammed the door and injured a police officer’s hand.

He then fled on foot to Görlitzer Park, where officers arrested him. He resisted and injured a policewoman in the leg.

The two injured officers stopped working, and reinforcements took the man into police custody. His car was confiscated. The man is now being investigated because of the banned car race, dangerous intervention in road traffic, driving without a license and resistance to the police officers.
