Football: New striker: Bayer 04 brings Victor Boniface

As of: 07/22/2023 6:18 p.m

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have reacted to Patrik Schick’s even longer absence and signed another striker in Victor Boniface. The 22-year-old comes from the Belgian first division club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Boniface has signed a contract in Leverkusen until June 30, 2028. According to media reports, the Leverkusen team will pay a transfer fee of around 16 million euros, which can increase to 20 million euros. The Nigerian drew attention in last season’s Europa League quarter-finals when he scored for Saint-Gilloise in a 1-1 first leg draw at Leverkusen.

“We’ve had Victor Boniface on our radar for a long time,” said Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes. “His performance in a direct duel then absolutely confirmed our positive assessment. Victor is a very present center forward who is difficult to play and who poses a challenge for every defender just because of his physicality. He’s also fast and technically skilled.”
