With the aim of establishing a direct connection with the Latin American audience, the franchise Lifetime Moviesfrom the eponymous channel, addresses current issues close to Latina women, such as physical and psychological violencethe infidelitythe economic dependence, manipulation, and mental disorders, among others. Well, the original dramatic series “Loves that deceive”, framed in the aforementioned format, returned to that screen after being a success in 2022, with a second season composed of twelve units. In co-production with VIP 2000 TV and Yahayra Films, it is gestated and produced, mainly, by women behind and in front of the cameras.
In each episode he presents different stories based on real problems. At first glance, it seems that the protagonists have found true love and believe they are in a perfect relationship, but what happens when that fairy tale luck is revealed only as an illusion? We see how the ladies in these stories, after experiencing a great disappointment, bravely face betrayal and danger, without giving in despite their pain, always managing to get ahead.
These new episodes directed by Henry Colmenares and José L. Rodríguez, are led by a talented international cast of Latin American actors. In “Sleeping with a Stranger”, the first among the plots that have already been broadcast, Ingrid (Danna García) marries in love with Ricardo (Carlos Ponce), an apparently perfect man, who turns their shared life into hell, when he begins to show symptoms of a severe bipolar disorder that he had managed to hide. The second, “The Perfect Family”, shows Mariana (Marjorie de Sousa) a professional woman who
she raised her first child alone, but, in her second marriage, she stops working and becomes financially dependent on her new husband. When this situation puts her offspring at risk, she gathers strength to confront her husband.
In the third, “Mom’s Favorite”, at sixty, Lorena (Helena Rojo) continues to believe that Reynaldo (Mark Tacher) is the perfect son. Little by little the family will get to know the other side of her, that of a liar and manipulator whose wife has left him and who now lives at the expense of his mother. One can reproach the shipment for a certain tendency to melodrama, but it complies in focusing the female problem in the region with absolute honesty.
