The new single is called “Mind Your Business” and is the third collaboration between the two artists
On July 21, will.i.am and Britney Spears released their new single Mind Your Business. As the rapper announced on his Instagram account on Tuesday (July 18), the new new track was originally scheduled for a July 19 release.
Now, two days late, Mind Your Business has been uploaded to will.i.am’s YouTube channel (see below). It is the Black Eyed Peas singer and Britney Spears’ third single together. In 2012 they released the hit “Scream & Shout” with the famous lyric “It’s Britney Bitch!”.
A year earlier, will.i.am and the then 29-year-old singer were in the studio together for her seventh studio album FEMME FATALE and recorded the song “Big Fat Ass”. And now, more than ten years later, the two drop their third dance anthem “Mind Your Business”.
It is Britney Spears’ second release since breaking free from the clutches of 13 years of paternal tutelage. From 2007 to 2021, the pop icon was under the legal guardianship of her father Jamie Spears. The “Free Britney Movement” made a significant contribution to the fact that the case attracted public media interest and the musician regained her freedom.
“Mind your business, bitch!”
It’s Britney Bitch became Mind Your Business, Bitch! The line, which can be heard right at the beginning of the new song, may be an allusion to Britney’s new found freedom. The artist finally has her own power to make decisions about her life and her music again.
With “Mind Your Business” (in German: “Take care of your stuff”) she not only brings her first official track since the last studio album GLORY (2016), but also proves that she is still the undisputed “Queen of Pop”.
