Manchester United, who finished third in the Premier League last season, confirmed earlier in the summer that its long-time goalkeeper David De Gea leaves the team after 12 years of cooperation. The Red Devils were not without their first point guard for a long time, because on Thursday they shared the expected news André Onana transfer.
The Cameroonian arrives in Manchester from the ranks of the spring Champions League finalist Inter. The goalkeeper signed a five-year contract, which also includes one option year.
The Daily Mail reports that the transfer amount is 43.7 million pounds, or about 37.8 million euros. The amount can increase with bonuses.
Onana, who is considered to be confident with the ball, has already traveled to the United States, where United travel around playing training games. On Saturday, it will face London’s Arsenal in New Jersey.
Mauri Forsblom
United are reportedly looking for a striker next. A name familiar to Finns has emerged as one strong candidate Rasmus Hojlund20. The Danish top prospect punished Finland in the European Championship qualifying match in March by completing a hat trick in a 3–1 victory.
The striker represents the Italian club Atalanta, where he scored 16 goals in 42 matches last season.
The Independent speculates that United and Atalanta have discussed a transfer fee close to 70 million euros. Hojlund is believed to have already accepted the contract offered by United.
Captain mess
On Thursday, United also shared another piece of news. In the next season, the captain’s armband will be worn by the team’s midfield maestro Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese has been playing for United since the winter of 2020.
Last season, the team’s first captain was a defender Harry Maguire, which is Erik ten Hag as ordered, remained in the role of substitute player. It is also believed that Maguire will change scenery soon and losing the captain’s armband will not reduce the transfer rumors.
