Milan, San Siro candidate for the 2026 and 2027 Champions League final

UEFA confirms that it has also received declarations of interest from the Lombard capital: head-to-head with Budapest

Milan raises its hand and proposes the much-talked about Giuseppe Meazza to host the Champions League final in 2026 or 2027. UEFA itself made it official, announcing that it has received declarations of interest from nine federations, divided however among the four competitions. For the most important one, the head-to-head will therefore be between San Siro and the Puskas Arena in Budapest: if neither of the two pulls back by February – when the dossiers will be delivered -, it is probable that Hungary and Italy will end up splitting the finals of the two editions in question.

The others

The interest had to be expressed by yesterday, while the appointments will only be official next May. For the Europa League, Germany has proposed itself with various venues, as well as Scotland with Hampden Park in Glasgow, Romania with the National Arena in Bucharest and Turkey with Istanbul. The Conference League will go to one of Leipzig (Red Bull Arena), Jerusalem in Israel (Teddy Park), Oslo in Norway (Ullevaal Stadion), Glasgow again, Istanbul again and Geneva in Switzerland. Finally, the women’s Champions League final: Germany again to challenge Oslo and Istanbul. Each national federation, undecided Germany in particular, will be able to propose only one city per competition by February.
