Douwe Bob lashes out pretty hard at Tim Hofman. He thinks that John de Mol has been treated too harshly by the BNNVARA star and his BOOS program. “It really wasn’t deserved.”
John de Mol has been dealt with harshly by Tim Hofman because, as producer of The Voice of Holland, he did not offer a safe working environment. However, the way the media billionaire has been dealt with is not fair, says Douwe Bob. He has worked for the TV maker as a coach in the junior variant The Voice Kids.
Unpopular opinion
Douwe steps into the breach for John. “I have some unpopular opinions. I think that the reaction to John de Mol has been too harsh. He was then really razed to the ground by Tim Hofman at BOOS and I didn’t think that was okay. I didn’t think John deserved that, because you just noticed that he really didn’t have a clue.”
The singer continues in the program ‘Ramin in conversation with‘: “He did try to give people tools. Whether it worked or not is another thing, but… I don’t speak to John, but I think he was really treated too hard actually.”
Aggressor
Doesn’t Douwe think it’s misplaced that John especially emphasized that women should be more assertive? “It is always the fault of the aggressor. Yes I understand that. I understand that, but then you can never say anything again, because then you can’t really say that someone…”
He continues: “I also think that you can assume that someone can report it if something happens that is not pleasant. Is that so weird? Have I gone crazy or what? So this is the danger of the times in which we live. So now I have to be afraid to say that it is actually necessary for a woman to report if something happens that is not okay.”
T*ring liers
There is a very strong reaction to this discussion, says Douwe. “When I say that, it’s: ‘Why does she have to report that? It shouldn’t happen!’ Yeah, okay, I agree. It shouldn’t happen, people should be punished hard, it’s horrible, dirty filthy t*ringlijers, okay. It has happened.”
“Were there enough tools to indicate it? We need to zoom in on that. I do not know.”
Would Douwe want to become a coach when The Voice returns? “That actually sounds like a laugh to me.”
