DAX-FLASH: Slight correction after a strong previous week

FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – After the generally strong previous week with a weaker Friday, further profit-taking is emerging in the Dax (DAX 40) on Monday. The broker IG appraised the leading German index around two and a half hours before the start of Xetra, down 0.3 percent to 16,051 points. In the previous week, the Dax had made up 3.2 percent of its correction from the annual high of 16,427 points since mid-June with a good 500 points.

On Wall Street, too, most indices gave out before the weekend. The market-wide S&P 500 turned around at its highest level since April 2022, the NASDAQ 100 as the selection index of the technology exchange at the level of January of the previous year. Credit Suisse explained the consolidation with a slight recovery in US bond yields.

Only in the last week of July does the monetary policy with interest rate decisions back into focus. Until then, the reporting season will roll on./ag/zb
