AZ Sint-Jan presents new MUG helicopter

The new aircraft, produced by Airbus, is of the type with which MUG interventions are carried out all over Europe.

This aircraft has a larger interior space than the previous helicopter. This allows the patient to be transported in more comfortable conditions, whether sitting or fully lying down. In addition, the device also has a faster boot time.

The MUG helicopter is mainly used in rural areas that are less easily accessible or in incidents where speed is of the utmost importance. The average speed, including take-off and landing, is 180 kilometers per hour. The intervention area of ​​the MUG Heli includes the entire province of West Flanders, a large part of East Flanders and the Dutch province of Zeeland.

The MUG helicopter can provide assistance within 15 minutes in this area. The operation of the MUG-Heli is financed by the cities and municipalities in the intervention area and by the Province of West Flanders.

A number of commercial partners, such as main sponsors Liantis and Artes-Depret, are also making a significant contribution. In addition, there are also regular solidarity actions from associations or service clubs.
