WM | “An all-round nice thing”: DFB stars work on team spirit

Beach feeling, sea air and game action: For the German soccer players, a change from everyday World Cup life was on the agenda for the third day in Australia. The team event on Saturday morning with the entire staff in Shelly Beach should ensure a good mood and strengthen the team spirit.

“The staff team had thought of a few nice games so that we could get the brain cells going a bit,” reported Felicitas Rauch (VfL Wolfsburg): “The air by the sea and sand under your feet are always good. It was a beautiful thing.”

Whether it’s a song quiz or a long-distance throwing competition: In mixed teams made up of staff members and national players, the aim was “to find a strategy as a small group and have a little fun,” explained Lina Magull (FC Bayern).

The midfielder also enjoyed the Australian flair. The team hotel in Wyong offers a lot of freedom, but is a bit “off the beaten path”. Magull praised the food in the district and the “fabulous” DFB chefs, but also hinted: “It’s not the most modern hotel, but everything still fits.”

As with the EM high flight last year, it should also fit with the team spirit. “We’re in good shape, but in the next few days and weeks it has to be even stronger,” said the 28-year-old. That’s why the team got together again internally. “It has to come out of us again that we as a team can find each other outside and transfer that back to the pitch,” said Magull.

In the afternoon we also went to the training ground, Lena Oberdorf (hamstring injury) and Marina Hegering (bruised heel) continued to complete an individual program. On July 24 (10:30 a.m. CEST/ZDF) the European runners-up will start the World Cup against Morocco in Melbourne.
