Beautiful places and unusual sounds

By Stefanie Hofeditz

Bad Saarow is 100 years old – that has to be celebrated! Sunday, July 16th, the concert series “Musik am See” starts in Bad Saarow!

The spa town can be explored around the Scharmutzelsee under the new musical direction of Anisha Bondy and Arnulf Ballhorn. Sunday starts with the festival day “It’s in the air” with two concerts, a musical boat tour, delicious food and a blue hour with artist talk. The whole day with music, boat trip, food and organized walks costs 90 euros. But you can also attend individual concerts.

At 3 p.m. the musical homage “Saarow – 100 years. One song, two countries, two hymns” in the picturesque garden of the Seepalais Boutique Hotel – with a view of the lake, of course. The Berlin vibraphonist and composer Oli Bott was commissioned by the German Bundestag to compose a homage to the 100th anniversary of the national anthem, the focus of which is the melody by Haydn (20 euros).

From 4.30 p.m. we eat at “Freilich am See” and at 7.30 p.m. it gets jazzy: the Oli Bott Trio plays
“Blue Moon Special: Chronicles of Jazz”, in which unusual genres are linked: Duke Ellington meets Maurice Ravel or Johann Sebastian Bach meets Metallica (food, concert and drinks 60 euros)
.

On July 20th, the concert series will continue, including Pasta é Opera. www.musikamsee.de
