The Streets announce new album out October 20th and a feature film

After a twelve year break, The Streets are back with a new album.

After a twelve-year album break, Mike Skinner aka The Streets announces his latest work THE DARKER THE SHADOW, THE BRIGHTER THE LIGHT for October 20th – and releases a feature film of the same name.

The Streets are back

Although Mike Skinner has worked regularly on music for the past twelve years, he has not had any larger projects of his own under the name The Streets. Fans should be all the happier that the British rapper has now scheduled THE DARKER THE SHADOW, THE BRIGHTER THE LIGHT for October 20th. A matching feature film with the same name is also to be released. A crime noir set in the club world of London, Skinner makes his feature film debut. The rapper has been working on both projects in recent years:

“I worked on this film and album for seven long years. I’ve had the desire for a long time and after trying my hand at a few short films and music videos I felt like I was ready for it. At first I did it the traditional way, but basically, following my instincts and doing my own thing has always served me the best.”

The 44-year-old wrote the script for the film, directed it, shot it, edited it, set the music and financed it. The film will first be shown in Everyman cinemas, but it is not yet known whether it will also be available in Germany. What is already known, however, is the first single from the album “Troubled Water”. This was released on July 12th and gives a musical foretaste of the LP.
