State Secretary Gunay Uslu (Culture and Media) will invest a total of 2 million euros in talent development for artists in pop, hip-hop and dance in 2023 and 2024. The money goes to regional music hubs via the Performing Arts Fund NL. The intention is that parties such as venues, festivals, producers and labels work together on talent development.
State Secretary Uslu: ,,Talent deserves investment, and I am happy to contribute to that. In the regional music hubs, artists receive guidance in their artistic development and coaching on a business level. And there are opportunities to perform in front of an audience. In short: talent comes into contact with all aspects of life as a professional music artist.”
The Performing Arts Fund NL has developed the scheme together with representatives from the pop, hip-hop and dance sectors. To be eligible, the music hubs must have a partner with a stage or festival, among other things. And the partners must have agreed to work together for several years. The new hubs must be spread across the country. The intention is to have a music hub in every part of the country (North, East, Central, South and West), and money has been reserved for the Caribbean part of the kingdom.
Today, the Performing Arts Fund NL opens the application desk for the ‘Regulation for music hubs in the field of pop, hip-hop and dance’.
