At the moment it seems to be becoming a dangerous trend among concert-goers to throw all sorts of objects at the musicians at their gigs. Now it hit Harry Styles during his live performance in Vienna.
On Saturday (July 8th) the former One Direction member played live in the Austrian capital at the Ernst Happel Stadium. In video captured by a fan, the 29-year-old artist can be seen walking down the stage when a thrown object caught him near his eye. Styles then visibly flinched and even contorted his face while leaning forward slightly and covering the affected area of his face with his hand. But he didn’t interrupt the concert because of that.
The throwing attack on Harry Styles in the video:
What kind of object it was and who was responsible for the attack is currently unclear. The “As It Was” singer has not yet commented on the incident. It is also unclear whether he suffered a visible injury from the attack.
It’s not the first time Styles has had an object thrown at him during a gig, though: in 2022, he was forced to take a break after being hit in the groin with a bottle while performing in Chicago.
Abusive incidents by fans against artists have been on the rise in recent weeks: on June 18, 2023, pop singer Bebe Rexha suffered a laceration after a fan threw his cellphone at her head, and just two days later (June 20) , pop singer Ava Max was slapped in the middle of the stage by a concert-goer. Most recently, Pink flew the ashes of a fan’s mother.
