michele Riondino returns to top Rai 1 with The young Montalbano and its cases to solve. Tonight at 21.25 the second episode will be broadcast again of the series based on the novels by Andrea Camilleri, entitled New Year’s. at the center ofepisode – available to stream on RaiPlay – a murder that took place under unclear circumstances.
The young Montalbano, second episode:
The plot takes its cue from New Year’s Eve 1991. However, there is very little to celebrate. The Reginella hotel, the same one where Montalbano (Michele Riondino) is staying to celebrate the arrival of the new year, is the scene of a murder. A man, Salvatore Lo Castro is found dead in his room. Someone killed him by shooting him in the neck.
The coroner Pasquano (Giuseppe Santostefano) arrives at the crime scene. The first meeting between him and the commissioner is not the best, but they will get to know each other. The young Montalbano focuses on the investigation, starting from the simplest track. Soon after, Rosina Leotta (Gioia Spaziani), the victim’s widow, joins the commissioner.
It explains why her husband, when he returned to the city, preferred to stay in a hotel rather than at home. Although appearances suggest her involvement, Rosina focuses all her stories on the exaltation of the relationship with her husband. Is it really like this or is she hiding something?

It then emerges that the victim was hit by a bullet fired from outside the chamber. Therefore we focus on the inhabitants of the condominiums in front of the structure, in particular on those who possess a duly registered weapon. The person responsible appears to be Mr. Sgrò, who admits that he fired because he was caught up in the euphoria of the celebrations.
The investigative activity cannot be said to be concluded, because the twist is always around the corner. Rosina is back in the game and for the commissioner the case cannot yet be said to be closed. Meanwhile, Salvo continues his relationship with Mery (Katia Greco)a young teacher from Catania with whom he has been engaged for some time and who is now pressing for their relationship to take an important turn.
After unsuccessfully inviting him to spend Christmas together with the intention of introducing her to her mother, she continues to make long-term plans. Soon understands that the boyfriend has no intention of committing seriously. She loves her, but affection is not enough in love and, faced with the reluctance to have a future together, leaves him and leaves the scene definitively.

The young Montalbano and the conflictual relationship with his father
For a companion who leaves, there is a parent who arrives. Montalbano receives a visit from his father at the police station. The man shows up unannounced under the pretext of wishing him a happy new year. «We haven’t heard each other… I was passing through here, in Vigata», he says, «e I thought I’d bring you a case of my wine. It made me peace to let you taste it». Unfortunately it doesn’t get the desired effect, because Salvo hasn’t yet resolved his paturnies and is trapped in a conflictual relationship, especially after his mother’s death. Michele Riondino married Eva Nestori
Michael Riondino returns protagonist not only for the replicas of the young Montalbano, but also because he is fresh from his wedding with his historical partner Eva Nestori, make-up artist. The couple pronounced the fateful yes afterwards thirteen years of engagement and two daughters, Frida and Irma, network respectively in 2014 and 2020.
The first meeting dates back to 2010, on the occasion of a party. The classic love at first sight, which has now resulted in marriage, which is celebrated in June at Palazzo Ducezio in Noto.
