Verstappen starts from pole, with Spaniards Sainz and Alonso in fifth and ninth place
The Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull), prominent leader in the Formula One World Championship, remains intractable on his way to a third title in a row and this Sunday he will start first in the British Grand Prix, the tenth of the championship, in Silverstone; circuit in which the McLarens shone and where the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) will start fifth and ninth, respectively.
Verstappen, 25, signed the twenty-seventh ‘pole’ in F1 – the seventh of the season and the fifth in a row – by dominating the hectic qualifying, in which the ones who came closest to him were the surprising McLaren. English Lando Norris -who will start with him from the front row- finished second and Australian rookie Oscar Piastri signed his best Saturday in the premier class with third place; in a new black day for the other Red Bull, that of the Mexican Sergio Perezwho was eliminated again in the first round and will start fifteenth.
The main timed session, held under changing conditions, was really exciting if you exclude the new great sporting idol of the Netherlands. Whose authority no one disputes.
