There are no trains running between Beilen and Assen this morning. According to the NS, this is due to a defective overhead line. “It may be that the overhead line is worn out, or that a train has broken that line,” says a spokesman.
The NS expects the trains to run according to schedule again around 12.15 p.m. “Everything has to be disconnected from the power. Something like that takes some time.” According to the NS spokesperson, it is not possible to use replacement bus transport.
Last night, incidentally, no trains ran between Assen and Groningen all evening, because a tree had fallen on the overhead lines. According to ProRail, removing that tree was more difficult than expected. According to the NS travel planner, the first trains were running again early this morning.
