In the Motonet GP in Oulu, came second in women’s speed fences Lotta Harala glowed with happiness after the final event of the competition event. He was chosen as the audience’s favorite and he got an extra thousand euros for it.
The popularity of the spectators and the greetings they send make the runner more sensitive.
– I have received many messages that people have followed my career for ten years and are happy that I am competing after difficulties, Harala says at the Raati stadium.
Harala was the fastest in the heats with a time of 12.99 and second in the final with a result of 12.98. The Dutchman took the win Maayke Tijn A-Lim with a time of 12.86. The third was Nooralotta Neziriwho got a time of 13.19 in the final.
About familiar otter women Annimari Korte missed the final and Reetta Hurske did not participate.
Harala’s personal record of 12.85 was set in the spring. Undertaking the hard 13 seconds seems like a basic feat for a runner at the moment, but Harala reminds Finns that women’s hurdles are at an internationally high level in Finland this summer as well.
– I would like to remind you that the 13.0 times are really hard times in Europe. It would probably make it to the EC semi-finals. Nooralotta is the statistical fourth with a time of 13.03 and would be the top of many other European countries.
Harala believes that he would already have a chance for a time of 12.7 this summer, if the conditions and the mood are right. Only Reetta Hurske has succeeded in that trick. Hurske ran a Finnish record of 12.70 in Jyväskylä a month ago.
– That 12.7 start is really doable in the coming season. I think the Olympic limit is 12.77. I see no reason why I can’t run eight hundredths faster than my record.
Next, Harala plans to recover and prepare for the Lappeenranta GP, which will be held on July 19. Before the Kaleva Games, he hopes to compete abroad once more. The main goal of the season is of course the World Cup in Hungary.
