A man shot himself in Uhlandstrasse. Witnesses say they heard at least one bang. Nobody got hurt.
As the BZ learned, an emergency call was received by the Berlin police at 2:23 p.m. According to this, a man with a gun is said to have walked around Uhlandstrasse and fired shots.
The control center immediately dispatched several units to the area. A radio patrol crew from police section 26 arrested the perpetrator. He is said not to have resisted.
In fact, a sharp weapon was discovered and secured on him. Because there was initially talk of several shots, Uhlandstrasse, Berliner Strasse and Blissestrasse were closed to look for possible injuries and bullet holes. The operation lasted until early evening.
A police spokeswoman said at around 4.30 p.m. that a cartridge case had already been secured on the Uhlandstraße road by this time.
According to BZ information, the shooter is said to be an approximately 30-year-old man of Eastern European origin. He made a confused impression, seemed mentally disturbed.
He was brought in for identification treatment, and he is also to be examined for drugs and alcohol. The background to the dangerous incident is still unclear.
