From now on, agents will be traveling on the train from Eindhoven to Weert. According to the VVMC railway union, this is one of the measures being taken to prevent nuisance caused by asylum seekers from the azc in Budel. According to trade union leader Wim Eilert, extra security guards will also be installed at the station in Maarheeze for the same reason.
Late on Tuesday evening, Eilert heard about these new measures from the NS, he told the Wakker! from Omroep Brabant.
“Sensible steps,” says Eilert. He considers police officers in the train especially important for the sense of security. Not only from rail employees, but also from travelers. “We want them to get home safely,” he says.
And that’s why, in his words, “you can’t be too careful.” He then refers to an incident in Ede where two groups of asylum seekers recently attacked each other on the train.
Bucket overflows
On Tuesday it became clear that NS staff is more than fed up with the nuisance caused by asylum seekers at Maarheeze station. Eilert then said that the bucket is overflowing. He had therefore asked the NS to take new measures. He said that ‘passing the station is also a measure’.
Late on Tuesday evening, he received a response from the NS announcing the new measures.
