It is incomprehensible that RTL 4 allows the main female primetime star of the channel, Chantal Janzen, to sell herself out with all kinds of lottery commercials, says Tina Nijkamp.
Linda de Mol has fallen incredibly hard from her pedestal, but in the time when she was still the TV queen of our country, she certainly behaved gracefully. She has never appeared in cheap shampoo commercials and has always left the actual awarding of lottery prizes to lesser gods like Winston Gerschtanowitz.
Blue jackets
With RTL 4’s current biggest female TV star, Chantal Janzen, things are very different. We see them twenty times a day in loud blue jackets from some lottery. And in the meantime complain that she sometimes reluctantly accepts jobs from the TV channel, which makes her relevant at all…
Strange, thinks Tina Nijkamp. The TV connoisseur has been at the helm of SBS 6 for years and would have had a hard time if one of her TV stars sold out so much with all kinds of TV commercials, which are also broadcast by the competition. She would have intervened if she was in the RTL 4 line.
‘On every channel!’
Tina finds it doubtful, she writes on her analysis channel. “Chantal sometimes doesn’t have a good feeling about a program, but still presents it because she gets paid a lot from RTL.”
She continues: “What I don’t understand about RTL 4 is that the channel approves that Chantal, in addition to her VERY lucrative RTL contract, can sometimes be seen for weeks on every channel, in every commercial to encourage her to become a participant in the Friends lottery.”
Pole and border
Something like that just comes across as cheap and non-exclusive, says Tina. “Shouldn’t RTL even limit that? And why does Chantal still want that herself? She doesn’t have to do it for the money and I don’t think those weeks of campaigns are that good for her image.”
TV colleague Özcan Akyol recently voiced similar criticism. He thinks that Chantal is throwing away her credibility with this kind of lottery commercials.
