NHL defenseman Markus Nutivaara ends his playing career at the age of 29.
Nutivaara confirmed its termination on Friday evening to Iltalehte. He was the first to tell about it Over.
Nutivaara did not play a single game in the NHL last season. He signed a one-year contract with San Jose last summer.
In the second season, he played only one game in the NHL. Nutivaara has suffered from a persistent hip injury.
– The hip has been operated twice. Attempts were made to repair the osteoarthritis and implant new cartilage. During the last season, the doctors said that they can’t help anymore, Nutivaara told Yle.
Nutivaara played 275 games in the NHL, where he scored 71 power points. He represented Columbus and Florida in these matches.
Nutivaara won the Finnish championship in Kärpi in 2015. He also represented Leijon in the 2018 World Championships, where he scored 3+6 in eight matches.
