POLITICS BLOG/Associations are pushing traffic lights to agree on basic child security

The overview in brief reports on developments, results and assessments relating to German politics:

Associations are urging the coalition to quickly agree on basic child security

The major welfare organizations are calling on the federal government to get the planned basic child security scheme up and running quickly. The current negotiations in the coalition on the subject are being observed “with great concern,” according to a letter from the federal working group for non-statutory welfare to Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), from which the newspapers of the editorial network Germany (RND) quoted. “We are particularly concerned about the scenario that politicians are going on a summer break without there being an agreement on the key points for this service,” the letter said, which was signed by the President of the Federal Working Group, Michael Groß. There is a fear that the project will not be completed in this legislative period. “In terms of poverty and family policy, this would be an unprecedented setback.”
