Madonna has been being treated for a bacterial infection in a New York hospital since Saturday, June 24 (we reported here). After the singer was found unconscious, emergency doctors delivered her to the intensive care unit. Although the Queen of Pop is now said to be in stable condition, her family was expecting the worst.
Family member admits why Madonna’s admission was kept secret
A family member, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to the British tabloid Daily Mail about the great concern the entire family had for the “Like A Prayer” singer. Her condition was said to be so critical that she was preparing to lose her mother of six forever.
“For the past few days, no one knew what direction her condition would take and her family braced for the worst,” the member is quoted as saying. “That’s why everything has been kept secret since Saturday … Everyone believed that we could lose them and that was the reality.”
The decision to postpone the tour for the time being was inevitable. The relative went on to say that Madonna believed she was “indomitable.” She always puts her career ahead of her own health. She didn’t pay attention to her health while preparing for her upcoming “Celebration” tour, rehearsing for it six days a week. The serious effects of the bacterial infection were now a “wake-up call” for her.
Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary has already commented on Instagram, and said that a “full recovery” is expected from the singer.
She recently released the song “Vulgar” with Sam Smith, which was intended as a teaser for the upcoming shows. The “Celebration” tour should have started in North America and then took the pop icon to Europe. Two concerts were also planned in Germany (Cologne and Berlin). It is not yet known when the tour will start.
