The heavy thunderstorm over Berlin caused many fire brigade operations on Monday afternoon.
The fire brigade was deployed to around 160 weather-related operations (as of 5:17 p.m.), as a spokesman said on request.
► According to this, there were flooded cellars distributed throughout the city, partly flooded streets, fallen trees and fallen branches.
► The A115, the Avus, also had to be closed for almost half an hour due to water on the roads.
► The S-Bahn reported delays throughout the city.
The fire brigade had triggered the “state of emergency weather”. Additional forces of the volunteer fire brigade are in action, it said.
The German Weather Service (DWD) had previously warned of severe thunderstorms in Brandenburg and Berlin. In the afternoon, thunderstorms of magnitude three out of four as well as heavy rain and hail are possible in several counties and cities, the meteorologists said.
They recommended staying indoors if possible in the event of a storm, closing windows and doors and securing outdoor objects.
