Won German championship in 2018
The personnel upheaval at Hertha BSC is apparently continuing. As the “image“ reported, youth trainer and ex-professional Michael Hartmann will leave the “old lady” next summer. The native of Brandenburg is said to have already said goodbye internally.
Hartmann has been in various roles in the Berlin youth team since 2013, where he has been successfully responsible for the U19s for more than five and a half years in his second term. Since then, his team has never finished fifth (for an overview), this season the capital city team is even on course for the title in the north/northeast relay. The unbeaten “Bubis” lead the table after eleven match days and have a lead of seven points over Werder Bremen, who played one game less (to the table).
The former professional Hartmann, who played 289 games (twelve goals/26 assists) for the “Old Lady” during his time as an active player, has looked after the U19s at national level since 2016 in 123 games to date, in which he averaged 2.18 scored points. In 2018, the coach led his team to winning the German championship, beating Schalke 04 in the final. The capital city qualified for the UEFA Youth League, which only ended in the round of 16.
Farewell to Hertha BSC: is Hartmann drawn to Bayern?
How things will continue for Hartmann beyond the summer is open. According to the “Bild” newspaper, the 47-year-old is on Bayern Munich’s note, where he should be an issue again. As early as 2020, the German record champions were apparently looking to win the coach for the reserve that had been promoted to the 3rd division at the time.
