Charles De Ketelaere has been a fixture in the Italian Serie A for four years now (2022/23 at AC Milan and since 2023 at Atalanta). A circumstance that has put the 25-year-old attacking midfielder in the Belgian World Cup squad and allegedly in the sights of two Bundesliga giants: FC Bayern and BVB are said to be showing interest.
FC Bayern and BVB should “closely monitor” the developments surrounding Charles De Ketelaere (contract until 2028). The portal “fussballdaten.de” wants to find out.
Bergamo is said to have no interest in putting the 1.92 meter tall Belgian on the market if a very tempting offer comes in, but De Ketelaere would not be “unsellable” either. Atalanta should certainly consider freeing up budget for new stars by transferring De Ketelaere.
However, according to the report, the offer in question would have to be in the range between 40 and 50 million euros, which is likely to represent an enormous challenge, at least for BVB. However, there would definitely be a need in Dortmund after Julian Brandt’s departure. For an investment of this amount, you would first have to generate income through prominent sales.
Charles De Ketelaere supposedly only has Plan B at FC Bayern
Nevertheless, according to the report, De Ketelaere is a “serious alternative for squad planning” for Borussia.
At FC Bayern, however, the left-footer should only be a “Plan B” option. What is said to be positive about the Isar is that De Ketelaere would “only” charge four to five million euros per year and would therefore not occupy a very large position in the salary budget.
However, there is said to have been no official initiative from either of the two Bundesliga competitors. De Ketelaere is currently supposed to be completely focused on the World Cup anyway.
