After defeating Germany in the Eurobasket quarterfinals, Spain met the first objective in the continental event. The 16 selected teams will be divided into four groups of four, with one venue for each geographical area, and the best three from each of these groups will qualify. Also, there will be the exception of France and of USA, who are guaranteed the ticket as host and world champion, respectively. In their groups, only the best two will pass.
