Bundesliga update
After the strong first half of 2023 and missing the championship in the last few meters, not much is happening at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga update. The squad value increases slightly and rises by 11.7 million to almost 560 million euros. BVB is back to the level it was at the beginning of June 2022. The fact that the black and yellow are up is mainly due to one personality: Donyell Malen.
Market values Borussia Dortmund: All important changes at a glance
After a performance explosion at the end of the season with 13 scorers in the last ten Bundesliga games, the Dutch international has jumped back to his previous year’s level. For the attacker, it goes up from 16 million to 28 million euros. In the complete Bundesliga update, Malen is the second-biggest winner behind Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani (+15 to 80 million).
Market values BVB: Bellingham unchanged – Malen increases significantly
“After one and a half rather mixed years, Donyell Malen got off to a flying start at BVB. As one of the top European scorers in 2023, he was partly responsible for the fact that BVB played an outstanding second half of the season and almost crowned themselves with the championship in the end,” market value admin Julius Weißenstein explains the big plus after three previous devaluations.

In addition to Malen, Adeyemi also has a plus – Özcan is the biggest BVB loser
In addition to Malen, offensive colleague Karim Adeyemi, who immediately resumed his improving form after tearing a muscle fiber and rose from 35 million to 40 million euros. There is also a plus for the winter arrivals Julian Ryerson (+3 to 13 million), who was able to establish himself at BVB, and teenager Julien Duranville (+3.5 to 8.5 million), who after recovering from injury and first good Brief impression in BVB dress is upgraded to the transfer fee paid. Marius Wolf (+1 to 10 million), who has played his way into the circle of the DFB-Elf, is also slightly up.

A handful of BVB professionals are meanwhile being devalued, but there is no big loser in the Bundesliga comparison in the black and yellow ranks. In addition to age-related devaluations for Mats Hummels (-500,000 to 6 million) and Anthony Modeste (-300,000 to 700,000), there are actors who no longer played a major role in the final spurt of the season, such as Giovanni Reyna (-3 to 25 million), Thomas Meunier ( -1.5 to 5 million) or – probably the most exemplary – captain Marco Reus (-2 to 7 million).
However, the biggest minus is for Salih Özcan (25), who fell from 17 million to 13 million euros and thus also returned to the level of the previous year. “After a good start at BVB, Özcan slacked off and finally lost his place to Emre Can at the end of the season. It will be exciting to see whether he can win back his regular place in the coming season or whether he will fall further down the hierarchy,” explains Marktwert admin Tobias Kröger.
This is how the Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
