UK retail continues to grow

Retailers in the UK continued to increase sales in May. Compared to the previous month, revenues increased by 0.3 percent, as the statistics office ONS announced on Friday in London. Bank economists, on the other hand, had expected an average decline of 0.2 percent. The increase follows a 0.5 percent gain in April.

According to the ONS, sales in non-stationary retail increased particularly significantly, mainly due to high revenues in online trading. Summer clothing sold well because of the warm weather. (dpa)
