What was not yet successful in the province, was successful in the three Brabant water boards. All water boards will have a new coalition after the elections. In Brabantse Delta and Aa en Maas they were already out in May and April. This week, De Dommel also presented its new board, after negotiations were completed at the beginning of this month.
Formateur Roel van Gurp (GroenLinks) brought Water Naturally, VVD, PvdA together there. The seats reserved for agriculture and nature reserves will also be co-governed.
Although BBB also won seats in the water boards, this party is only in one water board in the coalition. Namely in Brabant Delta.
In so many water boards, the various parties are in the coalition:
- Water Naturally 3x
- VVD: 3 water boards
- Reserved seats for agriculture: 3x
- Labor Party: 2x
- Reserved seats for nature areas: 2x
- BBB: 1x
- West Brabant WaterWidth: 1x
There will be a lot on the water boards’ plates over the next four years. For example, the nitrogen crisis and annual drought, but also the Water Framework Directive, which must be complied with in 2027, are the expenditures for the coming period.
