Belgian Cats advance to semi-finals at European Championship basket

After just 9 minutes, the Cats are 20 points ahead in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The Serbian women came into the match better in the second quarter (21-23) but still faced a considerable deficit halfway through (49-31). In the third quarter (22-14), Belgium made the final difference, after which the Cats played Serbia in the fourth quarter (22-8).

In the end, they advanced to the semi-finals with a 93-53 victory.

The Ypres Emma Meeseman even provided a historic assist at the European Championship basket: with her assist she became the first player ever at a European Championship basket to score a triple double.

Emma Meesseman and Julie Allemand each scored fifteen points in the collectively strong Cats. Kyara Linskens and Julie Vanloo came to fourteen units.

Paris 2024?

It is not yet certain who their opponent will be in that semi-final on Saturday. Either it will be France or Montenegro. They have to play their match soon. In the other semi-final, Hungary, which narrowly eliminated the Czech Republic 62-61, will face Spain or Germany.
