Britt Dekker does not exactly do her brand new colleague Jamie Trenité a favour. Because of her and because of her alone, he makes a pretty false start at his new employer SBS 6.
Jamie Trenité: It’s not exactly one household name. He is best known for his participation in Wie is de Mol and the period he worked for RTL Boulevard. After running some items for that show section this guy gave a extremely arrogant interview to Amayzine, in which he patted himself extensively on the chest for half an hour.
Brawling Jamie
It’s not clear exactly how much champagne he had – Jamie had a half-empty glass in his hand – but anyone who ever saw that interview is still walking around with rheumatism in their toes. The bluster, the bigotry, the ‘wise’ life lessons: cringeworthy. And the presenter on duty? Impressed. “What wise things you say!”
Although Jamie turned out to be a real autocue bumbling at Boulevard, he thought he was great at the time: “I only want one thing and that is to become the very best presenter I have in me to be. So not the best in the Netherlands. The Netherlands can get the t**ing. I want to become the best presenter I can be.”
‘Where I want to be’
Jamie then indicated that as a presenter he is ‘exactly where he wants to be’. Well, three years later he is sitting in the back row of the Hilversum reserve stand. And that is exactly where you need to be as a TV channel if absolutely no one in your presentation stable wants to present your latest TV formula.
That’s exactly what was going on with the new walking competition You Never Walk Alone. This is a kind of variant of De Dansmarathon, the program in which Wendy van Dijk in a nice dress interviewed people who were on the verge of collapse after sixty hours of dancing: “How do you feel now?”
Hand-me-down
SBS 6 therefore failed to hang You Never Walk Alone on one of its stars. Noa Vahle didn’t want to, Sam Hagens came by, Britt Dekker refused adamantly and then it was presented to Rob Kemps. How do we know all this? Britt has spoken out loud about this.
It now appears that Rob also said no and yes, at a certain point you end up with someone who presents sponsored programs in RTL 4’s afternoon programming: Jamie Trenité.
Painful
How painful is it that Jamie makes an embarrassing debut at SBS 6 in advance thanks to his brand new colleague Britt? He will be constantly reminded that he has taken on one of the channel’s biggest cast-offs ever.
When do we get to see Jamie’s false start? Coming autumn on SBS 6…
