Trial House of Justice in Heerlen is extended | 1Limburg

The pilot in Heerlen with the House of Law will be extended by six months. It will then be decided whether there will be a national follow-up. That is what Minister for Legal Protection Franc Weerwind said on Thursday during a working visit to Limburg.

The trial started more than two years ago. The residents of Heerlen can go directly to the House of Law, but they often also get there through other agencies. All kinds of problems can then be solved without the intervention of a judge.

Conflicts
“In two years we have handled 160 cases, such as conflicts, neighbor disputes, addictions, debts or housing problems,” says project leader Falko Dekkers. In only two cases did the judge have to intervene.

Follow-up
On Thursday, Minister Weerwind came to see how things are going at the new location of the House in the Maankwartier. “There are all kinds of pilots throughout the country to help people as simply as possible, without a legal decision immediately. At the end of the year we will see whether there will be a follow-up,” the minister said on Thursday.
