Today, TV1 is showing a domestic blockbuster Sheep eaters. The comedy, published in 1972, stars Heikki Kinnunen and Leo Lastumäki.
The film is based on Veikko Huovinen to a novel published two years earlier Sheep Eaters – A Finnish tale of swashbuckling. The boozy, philosophizing folk comedy did not convince the critics, but became a great success with the public. It gathered more viewers in cinemas than the other domestic films of the same year combined, more than 341,000. Godfather and Carillon orange.
One person doesn’t Sheep eaters enthusiastic about the film adaptation: its original author. Heikki Kinnunen revealed the matter in an interview he gave to Iltalehte in February 2011.
– Sheep eaters summer with Lastumäki was fun and the show was good. Huovinen didn’t like the end result, but writers rarely do, Kinnunen said.
Kinnunen and Lastumäki worked together as a pair of Suomi comedy for several years. Kinnuse had a tangible memory of the years together. The actor revealed in a 2011 interview that the duo had been banging clay pucks without hearing protection to pass the time.
– When I was under forty, I started to be a deaf man, Kinnunen laughed 15 years ago.

Sheep eaters made stars out of its leading actors. Director-producer Seppo Huunonen was awarded the Jussi award for the best producer of the year for the film. It was Huunonen’s first full-length film.
– I would do some parts differently, but I think it has taken a long time, Huunonen commented on the film to Iltalehte in October 2010.
Sheep eaters the success also continued outside the cinemas. It was shown on television for the first time in 1975. Elonet says that MTV3’s broadcast was watched by more than a million viewers, despite the fact that the Finland-Neuvostoliitto World Cup ice hockey match was shown on the competing channel at the same time.
