The Arenas de Barcelona Shopping Center has signed a long-term contract with the company Global Exhibitions to house a theater in the Cúpula space that will have the largest audience in the city, with around 1,400 seats.
As reported today by the shopping centre, under the name Teatre Arenas Barcelona, all the seats will have “perfect visibility and hearing”. The space, which will have a stage with a 29-meter opening by 12 meters deepis prepared to host “the greatest successes of the national and international theater”, indicates the establishment.
The new theater, located in the fourth floor of the mallowned by Merlin Properties, will maintain a stable and permanent programming that will contribute “to giving the viewer another option as far as culture and leisure are concerned in the form of large musical formats”.
Eduardo Sánchez Garriga, administrator of Global Exhibitions and the Maximus Entertainment Group, stated in a statement that inaugurating a permanent theater in the Cúpula de Arenas space in Barcelona “is both a luxury and a necessity for the city.” “Our bet will be for culture and entertainment, combining with strategic producers, classic musical theater works, great own production shows and select concerts“, has added.
The new stage space intends to “work seven days a weekoptimizing schedules and their various activities to the maximum” and “attract 300,000 new viewers for the next season”.
For his part, the director of Merlin Properties, Luis Lázaro, indicated that the agreement is “a great example of how Retail spaces are in constant transformation, adapting to both the leisure and cultural needs of our visitors.”
