Finland is leading its European Championship qualifying group after all teams have played four matches.
Finland is at the top of Group H with nine points. The EC qualification started with a loss to Denmark, but since then Huuhkajat has captured the full points pot three times.
In March, Northern Ireland fell 1–0 away from home, and in June, victories over Slovenia (2–0) and San Marino (6–0) were celebrated at the Olympic Stadium.
Finland’s position at the top of the group was confirmed when, in Monday’s other matches, Denmark and Slovenia drew and Kazakhstan beat Northern Ireland 1–0. Finland leads Kazakhstan thanks to a better goal difference.
The Huuhkaji’s flight to the top of the standings warms Finnish football fans like the warm summer sun. You can feel this throughout the summer, because the EC qualifying matches continue in the fall. Finland will face Kazakhstan on Thursday the 7th. day of September.
