The images are haunting: a Russian soldier walks all alone through the trenches near Bachmut after his comrades-in-arms are killed by Ukrainian drones. Occasionally he crouches for fear of an impact. Suddenly he looks straight into the camera and begs for his life. The newspaper ‘The Wall Street Journal’ was able to speak to him afterwards and recorded his story.
