Wildwest in Medemblik: 1,000 kilos of cocaine, a shooting and a dead Croat

Wildwest on the Vereweg in Medemblik, September last year. With 1,000 kilos of cocaine in a warehouse, a shooting and finally a Croatian, Herni Lukačević (54), who was run over and died. According to suspect MF (27) from Amstelveen, he never saw the victim when he hit him. “I was shot several times and had to duck for my life.”

On Monday, during the short introductory session of one of the two suspects, a little more became clear of what was happening played on September 27, on the dark and remote terrain between Oostwoud and Medemblik.

There would have been a nightly fight about drugs. A total of three empty shell casings were found, which indicate a shooting. In the end, Lukačević was run over by a Ford Transit. This would be owned by the co-suspect, but driven by F.. The Public Prosecution Service accuses him of ‘intentionally and premeditatedly running over’ the victim. The deceased Croat was found the next morning.

Last March, the two were arrested after extensive investigation. F. will make a statement next Thursday. Four witnesses are also being heard in this case. The other suspect will appear next week. The matter will be dealt with substantively at a later date.

Lawyer Van Boom looked back on F.’s collision and holds it to bad weather. According to him, in addition to the two suspects and the Croat, some Eastern Europeans were present. F.’s co-defendant is said to have had a gun to his head. “It was a robbery. Mr. Lukačević – someone with an impressive criminal record in his own country – wanted to achieve something there and they did not hesitate to shoot. Fortunately, my client was able to save his life by diving away.”

‘Robbered and shot at’

A telephone conversation, a day after the incident, should confirm this reading. “We were ambushed by kills (guys, ed.). Shot by kills. I don’t know where that kills went under that waggie (car, ed.)”, it was said. In addition, Van Boom says that it cannot be determined at what time F. was behind the wheel.

The Public Prosecutor spoke of ‘a tip of the veil’. “We don’t have answers to many questions yet. What happened there? How did the quarrel start and what was the quarrel about? Those questions have not yet been answered.” She did not agree with the request to release F..

The court will determine tomorrow whether F.’s pre-trial detention will be extended. The status of the drug bust is still unclear at this time. That was not discussed in court today.
