The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) adhere to the Minsk agreements and do not plan any offensive operations or shelling of the territories of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, informed General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
“Our actions are exclusively defensive in nature,” Zaluzhny explained, “Any harm that can be done to people or infrastructure in the temporarily occupied territories is a provocation.”
In his opinion, the responsibility for what is happening in the republics of Donbass lies with Russia, which “grossly violates” the Minsk agreements. In total, by 19:00 on February 17, the military of the DPR and LPR violated the ceasefire at least 47 times, Zaluzny continued.
Kiev appealed to the coordinator of the Trilateral Contact Group from the OSCE with a request to immediately convene extraordinary meetings of the working group on the issue of security and violations of the ceasefire, which were celebrated on February 17, summed up Zaluzhny.
