For Freedom museum opens new wing

Freddy Jones, For Freedom Museum Ramskapelle: “A piece of metal is a piece of metal. But if you know the story behind it, it will leave you speechless. The Zinker-Zimke story, for example. A German pilot who is knocked down by an American pilot in Veurne. That boy lies in the ground until 1998. He is tracked down by the people of Bagaat. He is found and is reburied with military honors in Lommel, where he finds his deserved final resting place.”

In the new Airwing wing, the For Freedom Museum, together with aviation archaeologists, shows a specific story of the Second World War. There are also illustrations by the Ostend artist Thomas De Caju. Each year, 10,000 people visit the small museum that has been in existence for almost 15 years.
