A barn and house went up in flames in a fire in Tiendeveen tonight. The fire on Kerkweg started in a tractor, after which the flames quickly spread.
The report of the fire came in around a quarter past six this evening. Fire brigades from all over the region came to Tiendeveen in an attempt to save the house. That did not work, around eight o’clock the fire brigade reported that it had the fire under control, after which the post-extinguishing was continued. “Unfortunately, the barn and house must be considered lost,” said the Drenthe Safety Region, which includes the fire brigade.
A fire service spokesman said the fire started with a tractor fire. “It spread to a barn and the barn fire spread to the house.”
The fire service warned of the smoke and called not to come to the Kerkweg. “Is the smoke bothering you? Close windows and doors and switch off ventilation. Fire brigade is there with a lot of equipment to fight the fire, so give the emergency workers space. Do not come to the incident,” the call read on Twitter.
