The police have put images of the street race in Helmond on the internet. Police hope that witnesses will report the serious accident that happened as a result. Four people in the racing car were seriously injured. A fifth occupant sped off quickly and is still on the run.
The images show how two cars, a black Volkswagen Golf and a white Seat, raced across the Europaweg at high speed last Saturday evening. Just before the white car rams into a taxi bus that is standing still in front of the traffic light, the image is stopped.
The Seat, which hit the taxi bus at high speed, slid under the bus, pushing it forward a bit. The devastation on the street was enormous after the blow.
The two cars would have driven away at the same time at an earlier traffic light on Europaweg. The black Golf was able to avoid the taxi bus and took off.
Four men (aged 16 to 33) who were in the racing car were ‘quite injured’. The driver of the van (56) from Helmond and the 24-year-old passenger from Tilburg were also taken to hospital as a precaution. They were slightly injured.
