The elevator in a high-rise building on Gitschiner Strasse has been broken for 108 days. A comment from BZ editor Stefan Kost.
Tenants who are dependent on a wheelchair have been locked in a high-rise building in Berlin for 108 days. Yes locked up!
Because: You can no longer leave the house because the elevator is broken – and not repaired.
Are greedy rental sharks at work here who are only out for profit? Not at all! The house belongs to the state-owned housing association Howoge. But why is it taking so long? It is said that you have no influence on craftsmen.
For those affected, that must sound like mockery. After all, it means that wheelchair users – and also the pensioners in the building – have to queue at the very end.
108 is the number of shame. And it’s getting bigger every day. BZ stay tuned. Until the elevator is fixed.
