In 1957, ten years after the stadium was inaugurated Santiago Bernabeu, opened its doors on Camp Nou, with a truly innovative design. It was immediately clear that another architectural sensibility reigned here. Over the years both stadiums have gone suffering yes, that is the correct word, various remodeling. The merengue coliseum was fortified little by little, until it looked like a grandiose bunker. The culé stadium was making more or less decent fixes, in 1989 and 1994, when UEFA prohibited standing seats, and the land was lowered. But certain areas showed decrepitude, nothing consistent with the spirit of Barça and the architectural fame of its city. That is why in 2007 a Jan Laporta on firedecided to call a substantial remodeling competition, which Norman Foster won by covering it in colored flakes, which was left in stand by.
