Cup throws – Fiorentina captain suffers laceration

Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi suffered a laceration from cup throws during the Europa Conference League final in Prague against West Ham United.

Biraghi got several cups thrown at his head when he tried to take a corner. The Italian then bled from the back of his head, but was able to continue the game with a bandage.

Even before the game, there had been clashes between fans of both camps. Florence supporters attacked West Ham fans in a city center bar, Czech police said. Three people were slightly injured, one of whom was taken to the hospital. In addition, officials have temporarily arrested 16 suspects.

Videos showed fans throwing chairs. The Europa Conference League final is taking place under strong security measures. Two public viewing zones were set up for fans who couldn’t get tickets for the game in the Eden Arena, which only seats around 18,000 people – one for each of the two clubs.
